In setting up this still life, I was struck by the warmth of the oranges inside the vase and how that contrasted with the cool background and the coolness of the blue-green pears. The red pear provides color balance. The original was chosen for the FWS Annual Exhibition in 2013.
I was given my first oil painting set at the age of 12, and my first 35mm camera a year later. I was hooked. I have worked in many types of media over the years, but watercolor, colored pencil, pen & ink, and, photography are my current choices. Whether it be landscapes, seascapes, nature, or, still life, the subtlety and interplay of light and color are the ingredients that intrigue me. I taught physics and engineering at Utica College in NY state, but always found time to enter art shows or paint on commission. Now I am able to devote full time to art, teaching workshops, art classes, and being actively involved with various art organizations. I am grateful for having had the opportunity to learn with topnotch artists...
